Happy October, Bruins! We are so excited that you are all back on campus with us. We hope you are having a stress-free time settling in and enjoying your classes. There are so many events happening as the quarter just kicked off.
Speaking of kick off, make sure you read through our whole October edition for some collabs that will have you cheering! With the new month, we have two new transfer success stories to highlight some of our transfer Bruins with new and exciting positions and/or stories. Stay tuned for more updates!
Transfer Student Highlight - Transfer Success Stories
Hannah JiminezThe Community Development Internship position is a paid leadership role that supports Living Learning Communities by planning events, fostering student engagement, and building connections among residents. Interns gain valuable experience in leadership, communication, and project management while contributing to the success of their LLC. You may have seen her walking around, Holly, the transfer dorm! Make sure to say hi, she is so excited to host so many fun events for the coming year! | ![]() |
![]() | Ashley MaAshley is a first-year transfer, majoring in Labor Studies. In September, she received a club leadership position as secretary of the Pre-Law Transfer Society. (Ashley is also a valuable member of the USAC TSR team!) Ashley says, “I’m excited to serve as Secretary this year for the UCLA Pre-Law Transfer Society, a pre-law club that focuses on supporting transfer needs through providing resources and connecting students with admissions, professionals, and like-minded peers.” Ashley’s new role is inspiring! “I'm a firm believer in trying everything once. Don't let fear hold you back from pursuing your goals!” Their journey is one that USAC TSR is happy to be a part of, and we are excited to see her shine. |

Opportunities in Student Government
USAC TSR x ISR Committee Integration Program - Oct. 10
The Committee Integration Program (CIP) is a joint collaboration between the USAC Office of the Transfer Student Representative and International Student Representative, aiming to teach new students about the structure of UCLA’s student government, giving them experience for future staff, director, and elected positions within USAC. After full completion of the program and training, students will be integrated into either the TSR or ISR office as staff members.
USAC Office of the President - Oct. 10
The Fall Fellowship is an educational and experiential program designed to introduce students to the Undergraduate Student Association (USAC) and its role in student advocacy. This fellowship provides a low-commitment, entry-level opportunity for students to learn about campus leadership and begin their journey in student government.
USAC Internal Vice President - Oct. 3
The Internal Vice President’s Office is one of three executive offices within the Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC), UCLA’s official student government. Serving as the primary liaison between the student body, USAC, and university administration, the IVP Office is dedicated to advancing student-centered policy, institutional accountability, and equitable access to campus resources.
UCLA External Vice President - Oct. 3
The EVP Fellowship is aimed at providing undergraduate students with an introduction to advocacy as well as student government at UCLA. For 8 weeks, fellows will be introduced to the goals of the EVP Office. Activities include an introduction to student government at UCLA, advocacy work, and local Westwood relations. There will also be professional development and training provided by some of our on-campus partners. Each fellow will be placed with an existing EVP team member to provide a mentor within the office. Selected fellows are given the opportunity to become staff members in the Office after the completion of the fellowship. Meetings are mandatory once a week on Wednesdays, with the expectation of attending at least one social.
USAC Cultural Affairs Commission - Oct. 3
The Cultural Affairs Commission is one of the fifteen bodies in USAC. The mission of CAC is to put on quality programming that sparks conversation on contemporary and social issues. The commission’s primary focus is to program events with cultural, political, or social relevance accessible to all students. “Edutainment” (education + entertainment) and arts activism have guided the commission’s purpose over the past years. Specifically, the programs are meant to ignite conversation regarding current events, facilitate an exhibition of creativity, and engage more student investment, connection, and participation. Our programs foster an inclusive environment that permits students at UCLA to challenge and exchange with one another to achieve intersectional solidarity.
Internships/Fellowships
Buffalo 8 Film Internship - Application for Spring opens in November
While each intern will be sorted based on their desired focus, the position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in film and media finance, related production services, and a stronger perspective on producing film and television content. Candidates should have superior oral and written communication skills, be eager to learn about the entertainment industry, and have a strong work ethic. Applicants must be US-based for the duration of the internship.
NiSource Audit Internship Summer 2027 - Oct. 2
This hybrid position requires interns to be on-site three days a week and work remotely two days. Interns will gain hands-on experience in finance-related fields, collaborating with managers and building professional relationships while participating in team-building activities. In Internal Audit, interns will assist with audit testing activities, including operational, financial, and technology controls documentation, and support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, have completed intermediate-level coursework, and possess strong financial and communication skills. A GPA of 3.0 or higher and proficiency in MS Excel and Word are preferred.
Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship - Nov. 14
The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) is a two-year program for exceptional humanities, arts, and social sciences students who plan to pursue a PhD and an academic career. Fellows receive research support, mentorship, and professional development while working on independent research projects. The UCLA MMUF program provides quarterly stipends, GRE preparation, and assistance with graduate school applications. Eligible students, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and undocumented students, must be juniors with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and committed to research in a Mellon-designated field. The application includes a research proposal, personal statement, and faculty recommendation, with a deadline of Nov. 14, 2025.
Unite-LA CleanTech Academy - A new round of applications is being accepted in Winter for Spring…we will keep you updated.
The academy brings together partners from cleantech, education, labor, and local government to train and mentor the next generation of cleantech workers across Los Angeles. The academy focuses on connecting students from historically marginalized communities with paid educational opportunities and work experience in the ever-growing cleantech industry. UNITE-LA has developed the academy in partnership with employers across the LA region who share their belief that education and diverse perspectives are key to solving our most challenging problems — including the fight against climate change.
Winter Audit Intern - Nov. 29
Armanino, one of the top 20 most prominent firms in the U.S. and recognized as a top workplace, offers a supportive environment where personal passions and professional growth coexist. Interns receive hands-on experience alongside professionals at all levels, gaining the same exposure as associate-level hires through engaging programs and training opportunities. Responsibilities include assisting with audits, analyzing financial data, and collaborating with clients and team members. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and pursue a degree in accounting.
Strategy and Business Development Intern - Jan. 25
The D. E. Shaw group seeks intellectually curious students for a ten-week Strategy and Business Development internship in New York from June to August 2026. Interns will work on high-impact projects involving market analysis, internal consulting, and strategic development, requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The program welcomes students from all academic backgrounds, especially those interested in strategy, capital markets, or economic research, with technical roles available for candidates with programming experience. The internship offers generous compensation, including a $11,000 monthly salary, sign-on and housing bonuses, travel coverage, and additional study materials and technology stipends.

Transfer Bruin Reading Society - Rolling
The Transfer Bruin Reading Society is a Social book club for the UCLA undergraduate community with a focus on telling and celebrating transfer tales. They are currently looking to hire for a Marketing Director and an External Vice President. Please email [email protected] for any questions.
Chi Alpha Psi Rush - Oct. 6-8
Join Chi Alpha Psi, UCLA’s original co-ed transfer frat! Make lifelong connections with other transfers! All transfers are welcome; you must attend at least one night of rush to be considered. Rush will be taking place Oct. 6-8, from 8 pm-9 pm on the Jans steps!
UCLA Center for Community College Partnerships
The UCLA CCCP is searching for volunteers to support a transfer-receptive UCLA community, build connections with students, staff, and faculty. In this opportunity, you will have the chance to mentor and guide future transfer Bruins.
UNICA at UCLA - Oct. 19
Unión Centroamericana (UNICA) at UCLA is a student-led organization that aims to empower Central American students through activism, education, and organization rooted in social change. UNICA holds many events to provide Central American students with a source of cultural familiarity, vehicles for artistic expression and advocacy, and venues for cultural validation. These events include various Central American community, history, culture, education & empowerment events, social and networking events, mental health & wellness education and awareness events, and more. Selected interns will be paired with a specific executive board member and trained on the expectations and responsibilities of that role to take on the role for the 2025-26 school year.
Swipe Out Hunger - Oct. 3
Apply to be a member. Swipe Out Hunger was founded at UCLA in response to the growing problem of student hunger during the Recession, with a core program allowing students to donate unused meal swipes to students experiencing food insecurity. From there, Swipes has grown into a community dedicated to ending college hunger through education, direct service, and advocacy.
Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program - Oct. 3
KDSAP (Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program) is a kidney health club that aims to spread awareness and educate the community about chronic kidney disease (CKD), which affects approximately 15% of the U.S. adult population. However, many people affected by CKD do not know they have it, with about 2 in 5 adults unaware that they have severe CKD. Due to the prevalence of CKD, KDSAP partners with physician volunteers and organizes community screenings to help improve access to healthcare and promote early detection.
Bruin Strategy - Oct. 3
Bruin Strategy Network (BSN) is a student-led consulting organization at UCLA offering tracks in both management and healthcare. They work with clients ranging from small businesses and startups to Fortune 500 firms. With backgrounds in bioengineering, public health, economics, and computer science, their teams combine hands-on experience, structured training, and close mentorship to deliver practical, tailored insights to clients while fostering meaningful growth for our members.
UCLA 180 Degrees Consulting - Oct. 6
180 Degrees Consulting (180DC) is the world’s largest volunteer consulting firm, harnessing the potential of high-performing university students in solving the most pressing issues at the intersection of business and social impact. They work closely with some of the most influential socially-oriented organizations in Los Angeles and beyond to strengthen their ability to achieve high-impact outcomes.
DevX - Oct. 8
DevX is a product development organization at UCLA that offers opportunities in design, technology, and entrepreneurship, focused on solving problems on campus. Apply as a designer, marketer, or developer to gain experience with real-world projects, learn by building, and be part of an ambitious community.
Events
2025 USAC UCLA Bruin Rams GameDay - First-come, first-served
This is for UCLA undergraduate students to sign up for the first-come, first-served opportunity to join us as we collaborate with the Los Angeles Rams for a Rams game on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, as your Los Angeles Rams take on the New Orleans Saints at SoFi Stadium! This is a Sunday Game Day taking place on Nov. 2, which is in week 6 of the Fall Quarter. This initiative provides opportunities for those who might not otherwise have the chance to attend a National Football League Event at a substantially discounted rate (on average across all the sections reserved). The Rams Ticket Box Office and USAC UCLA have collaborated on this initiative.
Transfer Experience LLC Welcome Retreat
The UCLA Transfer Experience Living Learning Community will be hosting a welcome retreat for all transfers on October 17th. This event will feature games, food, and bonding! This is just a sneak peek of all the events the Transfer Experience LLC has to offer for the year. Come stop by and say hi!
