Transfer Student Highlight - Transfer Success Stories
Katherine Preza LeonorOne of our very own Media and Marketing Staff members, Katherine, has published her very own book! Katherine is a first-year transfer majoring in English. Katherine Preza Leonor’s Russeting Fruits says it “is a call to the American people to wake up from the nightmare President Donald Trump’s regime has created for everyone in the country." It is a collection of poems, short stories, and essays that navigate the reality of being a minority while dealing with political frustrations that trigger familial adversities such as addiction and contemplation of one’s spiritual path. Containing themes of immigration rights and immigrant stories to give emphasis on the political pressure put upon Hispanic households, Russeting Fruits offers a different perspective to what it means to be in the United States.” Katherine says, “‘Don't listen anymore to the voice that gave indifference to your victorious beauty’ from my poem ‘Like the Greeks.’“ Katherine’s book is at Barnes&Noble and just about everywhere online! It sold out the first week directly from my publishing website. Her book is a bilingual book and contains interviews from my Latino community in Panorama City, CA. | ![]() Pick up your very own copy using this link: |

Elaria will serve as the Director of Administrative Affairs for the year. The purpose of Administrative Affairs is to lead transfer awareness training workshops and modify and improve resources to better support the needs of transfer students. Moreover, the committee strives to stay current on policies, data, and research that impact transfers, as we aim to enhance their experience. “God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear” says Elaria. Another fun fact about her is that she is a seventeen-year-old junior transfer! |
